The Made in India Show was organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), along with the support of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Department of Commerce, Government of India & Embassy of India, Jakarta at the Balai kartini Exhibition Grounds. The event was being inaugurated by Mr. Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Government of India and his counterpart the Minister of Industry of Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Fahim Idris today in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Mr Rajive Kaul, Past President and Chairman, Apex Council for Trade Fairs, CII also spoke on the occasion, stressing that CII expected the Made in India Show to further stimulate economic and commercial relations between India and Indonesia .
Senior Indonesian officials, prominent Indonesian businessmen, and members of the Indian community attended the inaugural function.
The exhibition also featured Petroleum & Natural Gas Pavilion showcasing the public sector majors, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, ONGC Ltd, Oil India Ltd, and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.
There was a very good presence of the Indian auto components sector, Indian Textile Accessories and Machinery Manufacturers Association pavilion consisting of 40 small and medium sized companies apart from the other sectors.
“Made in India” Show included meetings / interactions with Indonesian Businessmen’s Association, the India-Indonesian Joint Business Group, and a seminar on business and investment opportunities in India and Indonesia .
The exhibition took place against the backdrop of a marked increase in Indo-Indonesian trade and inflow of Indian investments into Indonesia . It sought to provide a platform for direct interface while promoting awareness of existing and emerging business possibilities that are expanding with on-going economic reforms and impressive growth rates registered in both countries.
The Made in India show was a reflection of the growing demand and acceptability of Indian goods, services and technological advancements in Indonesian, a platform for small industry to showcase its ability and share its capabilities.
The forum saw wide networking between Indian SMEs and local Indonesian business houses resulting in sharing and actual transfer of technology and technical know-how. A number of business visitors showed interest in collaboration / joint ventures. Also interest was shown in technology transfer and market tie-ups confirming dealership for Indian products.
Kohli Auto & Rising Sun International - manufacturers of auto parts , had been enthroned by queries.
MK AUTO CLUCTHES - manufactureres of Auto Accessories for ex: Friction material, Pressure Die Cast Parts, Forgings Fine Blanking etc were in talks with local representatives / distribustors for their products and will shortly visit Indonesia again.
Brilliant has generated about 32 good Inquiries and have been able to identify a dealer for their company to sell their products.
MVD Auto Components were able to generate a decent number of inquiries and are looking forward to many more Made in India Shows in future.
Bajaj Auto Ltd have received about 15 to 20 relevant inquiries. The company had also finalised a local distributor and would be working on the modalities.
TATA group comprising of Tata Motors, Tata Consultancy Services, had already very good presence in the Indonesian market and as a result of this show they expect the turnover to double in the coming year.
Indian Petroleum & Gas companies are already in talks with Indonesian Oil & Gas companies joint ventures, distribution network and exploration and development of gas fields.
Apart from the Engineering and other sectors, the much in demand and popular sector was the Handicrafts & Handlooms which included Chandhari Handicraft, Home furnishing, Gems and Jewellery, leather goods who were doing direct sales at this event.
Business Seminar & Delegation
The Confederation of Indian Industry and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce & Industry jointly organised a seminar at the Mawar Hall in Balai Kartini from 1430 – 1630 hrs on 7 August 2009 on the theme “Trade and Investment Opportunities in India: India – Indonesia the Road Ahead”.
The Seminar was inaugurated by the leader of the delegation,
Mr Rajive Kaul and Mr Steve Sondakh, Chairman, International Committee on Economic Cooperation for APAC, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN). The Seminar was attended by more that 100 representatives of Indonesian and Indian companies.
Mr Rajive Kaul made a presentation on “Indian Economy and Investment Opportunities”, Mr Vijay R Kirloskar, Chairman & Managing Director, Kirloskar Electric Company Ltd made a presentation on “Manufacturing in India” and Mr Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII chaired the session.
The presentations were followed by a lively question and answer session. A copy of the programme and the presentations made are enclosed.
Coinciding with the “Made in India Show”, CII mounted a 15-member business delegation led by Mr Rajive Kaul, Past President, CII, Chairman of CII Trade Fair Council and Chairman, NICCO Corporation Ltd. The delegation also represented senior business leaders from a wide cross-section of the Indian industry and made a very positive impression on the Indonesian leadership, business leaders as well as media.
The CII delegation called on Dr. Fahmi Idris, Minister of Industry;
Ms Mari Elka Pangestu, Minister of Trade; Mr S. Pushpanathan, Deputy Secretary-General, ASEAN Secretariat; Mr Mohammad Hidayat, Chairman of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KADIN) and members from KADIN; Mr Muhammad Lutfi, Chairman, Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM);
Mr Wim Tang Kilisan, President Director, Globe Media and a panel of media persons; Mr Guritno Kusumo, Secretary General for Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises.
The delegation also discussed ways and means of increasing the existing India-ASEAN trade of USD 37 billion further with senior officials from the ASEAN Secretariat as well.
CII had also organized an ‘India Evening’ which showcased Indian cultural performances and cuisines which was being attended by key officials from the Indonesian Government, Diplomatic corps and media.
